I love playing with Paint Shop Pro. A great plugin is Optikverve Labs. I like the effects it offers. I think it's free too.
The first picture is after using the effects.
The second is the original photo.
This rose bush has only one bloom at a time. The plant is terrible looking and I keep thinking each year will be the last, but every year I save it for one more year. And I photograph it at least once.
I have two rose bushes...both sickly.
Something about me and roses...ya think?

There must be a story and a lesson to be learned here. Just one beautiful rose each year on an old beat up rose bush thats on its last legs.
I'm thinking the lesson is that no matter how old and beat up we are on the outside, we can still have so much beauty in us it just has to burst out to show it the world
That old rose bush is saying "THAT (the old gnarley bush) is not who I am. THIS (the beautiful rose) is who I am.

Hey I agree Faye...and I also think that old saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder...and speaking as an aging woman...I wish people would get their concepts of beauty straightened out so I look better to them...LOL..

Faye, I like your analogy. In fact, this old gnarled bush is not who I am...I am a beautiful rose on the inside....where I really am.
And maybe God will do me like I did that rose, and give me a Doris Day softness that hides my flaws and enhances my colors.
Yep...I think he does things like that. :) Only He's the only one who sees the perfect rose I am.
