The John Rose

And now, away from Blizzards and on to Roses.

Both of these roses are from one bush that rambles along a low fence. I said I couldn't grow roses, but this one does its own thing. I stay far away and just take photos now and then. I don't know what it's called. A friend, John Shipp, gave a start to my husband, and he got it from his mother. We gave it the name, "The John Rose" years ago. We all still call it that. One looks like a candy cane.

How strange that both colors grow on one bush. The one really does look like peppermint candy.

I'm thinking you just think you can't grow roses.

My next door neighbour has a rose like that. She has a scarlet rose and a bright gold one on the same bush. Strange.

Your roses are lovely Nita.

Nita, thank you for your comment. I was suprised to see Bandon on your blog. t is my favorite place in the whole world. If you look at old posts of mine you will find pics of my yearly trip to Bandon. My mom, sister, sister-in-law,and myself go every January. It is wonderful. I really enjoy your images.
